Amcom Data Processing, Inc., founded on April 1, 1973, specializes in outsourcing, facilities management, programming,
training, consulting, and support for small and medium sized businesses. Our three (3) divisions (Repair
Facilities, Convenience Stores, and Custom Services) have grown and prospered because of our commitment
to our customer by providing outstanding software expertise and user support services.
Convenience Stores & Repair Facilities
Amcom became involved with the oil industry in 1978. Our first major corporate customer (Union 76) approached us
because of outstanding references from existing Union petroleum jobbers. We currently have active relationships with
eight major oil companies. Amcom’s corporate office is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, in San Ramon California.
Below is a brief history:
In early 1984, Union Oil Company of California (UNOCAL) and Amcom entered into an exclusive seven-year
agreement whereby Amcom would develop and market a service station computer system to UNOCAL dealers. The result of this
agreement was the creation of the Franchisee Automated Business System (DABS), a fully integrated accounting, marketing, and
shop system. This system continues to play an important role the Unocal franchisee network. In 1991, Amcom began marketing this package,
renamed to PACE 2000 to other oil companies.
In 1991, Marathon Oil discovered the PACE 2000 product, approached Amcom, and after a thorough evaluation, endorsed
PACE 2000 for use in its newly constructed Super Facilities. Success in this one area led to a full company-wide endorsement
from Marathon in late 1992.
In 1992, after an extensive yearlong study of computer software for full facility and convenience store service
stations, the PACE 2000 product was selected by BP Oil (British Petroleum) for installation in their franchisee operations.
In 1993, Amoco approved the PACE 2000 product for their c-store facilities.
In 1994, Amcom began working with Mobil to use PACE 2000 as the computer system for their Car Care Franchise program.
After an extensive test and evaluation period, Mobil selected PACE 2000 over all other service bay products.
In 1995, Amcom was selected as an authorized Chevron Gateway vendor because of our "strong auto service bay package".
In 1996, Amcom was selected as a preferred supplier of software by Texaco (Star Enterprises).
In 1997, in competition with major technology companies (Triad and ADP), Amcom won the endorsement of
Tosco (now Phillips 66) for their AutoPulse and subsequent retail formats.
In 1999, Amoco chose Amcom over eight competitors for its CertiCare format.
In 2001, Amcom partnered with Red River Software to design and market its Convenience store Software.
In 2003, Amcom purchased Autos2000 from Jazz Designs and took over support for its 200 users.
In 2003, Amcom was authorized by Shell to work with its Shell MSO (jobber) group.
In 2004, Amcom developed its ASP (server hosting) service as a result of user requests for a low-cost, hassle-free,
IT business solution. Amcom hosts customers with 1 to 1000 locations.
In 2006, AAMCO Transmissions selected Amcom (out of more than 100 competitors) to be their technology provider for
their franchisee partners.
Amcom currently services a large customer base of users and is expanding aggressively in all areas of the United States.
CUSTOM SERVICES
Custom Services is the original cornerstone of our organization. From its inception in 1973, we have continued to provide a
total computing solution for those customers that prefer to focus on their core competency and not technology. Our customers
range from a national insurance company to single and multi-site repair facilities and convenience stores. Technology developed
in this area is on the leading edge and is "passed down" to repair and convenience store clients. The benefits of this are
significant and not something easily replicated by our competitors.
Our customer loyalty and longevity spotlight our commitment to quality and the value of our corporate win-win philosophy. We
are proud of our success in all of these areas and our ability to provide such a wide range of expertise and computing solutions.
Amcom Philosophy
We believe that in order for our working relationship to be truly win-win, the customer’s initial software investment cannot
diminish or be lost over the years. In fact, the return on investment must actually grow as time passes. To accomplish this,
Amcom institutes the unique policy of implementing all software enhancements and program upgrades to all participating customers,
thus ensuring that all users are consistently updated and kept current with industry standards. This philosophy has been instrumental
in Amcom’s long-term success and stability in this volatile and unpredictable industry.
For any company to survive and prosper in the computer industry for 37 years is a significant accomplishment. Rapidly changing technologies
make software, hardware and operating systems outdated and obsolete overnight. Amcom has continually offered the best business solution,
and will continue to make future changes as technology dictates. We are proud of our achievement and base our 37 years of success on our
customer-focused philosophy.
